A colourful party, dramatic battle, a magical snow scene and charming Candy land were all part of our first ISB Plus Dance production. On Sunday 22 January, ISB families were able to witness an abbreviated version of the beautiful ballet tradition, The Nutcracker by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. Our 'Storytime with the Nutcracker' had our ECC and ES ballet dancers performing key characters and moments from the original ballet.
Celebrating their hard work, passion and dedication, the dancers proudly showcased what they have been learning in the 'Storytime with the Nutcracker' under the instruction of Susanne Mirabello and Kate Murphy. The audience walked away positively impressed.
ISB Dance was launched within the ISB Plus programme four years ago and currently offers dance lessons to students in Pre-school - Grade 6. Lessons include ballet, modern dance and jazz. The lead instructor Susanne Mirabello (grade 2 teacher), who trained with Virginia Ballet Company under Oleg Tupine of the Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo, has taught dance for over 16 years. She is passionate about including movement and dance opportunities for students of all ages in our ISB community. Kate Murphy (ECC ELD teacher) also teaches in the ISB Plus Dance programme, and shares an extensive background in dance and performance. We feel very lucky to have these two talented women choreograph and direct the first ISB Plus Dance production.
Don't hesitate to contact ISB Plus to learn more about dance activities at ISB and feel free to ask any ISB Dancer about the magical adventures they performed on stage!
