STEM Learning at ISB

Shaping The Future With STEM

At the International School of Brussels (ISB), STEM is an integrated approach to learning that brings together Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics to prepare students for problem-solving, innovation, and future careers. Embedded across the curriculum, STEM learning empowers students to explore, design, question, and innovate through hands-on, interdisciplinary experiences that build scientific inquiry, digital literacy, engineering and design thinking, and real-world mathematical reasoning. The programme is intentionally designed to grow with students, from early exploration in the Early Childhood Centre to advanced application and pathways in High School.

Our Objectives

Experience

Provide all students with a meaningful STEM experience each year.
Every student engages annually in age-appropriate, hands-on STEM learning experiences that foster inquiry, creativity, and problem-solving.

Pathways

Develop individualised pathways for students with specialised interests in STEM.
Students with a strong interest or aptitude in STEM are supported through extended challenges, electives, enrichment opportunities, and extracurricular activities.

Resources

Ensure access to high-quality facilities, training, and resources.
Purpose-built spaces, technology, materials, and ongoing professional learning support innovative teaching and learning across all divisions.

Engagement

Strengthen communication within and beyond the ISB community.
ISB actively shares STEM learning experiences and opportunities with families, partners, and the wider community to celebrate innovation and collaboration.
