ISB Futures Spotlight - Athletics at ISB

#4 Athletics at ISB

ISB Athletics started in the late 1950s when a group of ISB student-athletes had the opportunity to play against the Harlem Globetrotters, who were on tour in Europe during the 1958-59 school year. Today the programme has grown into one of Europe’s largest and most respected athletics programmes.

At the heart of this programme is a commitment to providing all ISB students the opportunity to compete and develop their skills in a wide range of sports. On the courts and field, students build and test character. They discover what it means to be a part of a team and what it means to lead. They then apply these lessons in other aspects of their lives. We are proud of every one of our student athletes and what they accomplish each year.

Areas of particular focus for the 2021-22 school year will include:

  • Introduction of a Raiders Leadership Council, exploring what impact Athletics can have in leveraging change in relation to social justice, environmental impact, and gender, etc.
  • Continuing to expand RaidersTV, giving hands-on opportunities for students to develop skills in sports broadcasting.
  • New facilities with upgrades to the dugouts, fitness room and a new “Strong Box” on the Upper Field that will facilitate outdoor fitness and cross training opportunities for student athletes.
  • The return to on-campus game-day experiences supported by the Family Association and Sports Council.
