ISB Futures Spotlight - ISB Mobility & Bus Service

#9 ISB Mobility & Bus Service

For many years, the ISB Bus Service has been the preferred way for ISB students to travel to and from campus. Each day, 60% of students use the service, which comprises 30 buses serving 12 of the 19 communes in Brussels and 21 towns around the outskirts of Brussels.

Areas of focus for the 2021-22 school year, as we continue to develop sustainable mobility solutions across the community, include:

  • Investigation into school transport management software that will allow parental sign-up of students to bus routes, GPS bus tracking and “live” passenger lists;
  • A review of the bus monitor programme;
  • Coordinated opportunities to encourage car sharing;
  • Installation of 10 additional car charging stations;
  • Active participation in Brussels Mobility Week (September 2021)

Did you know?

  • Each day 630 stops are made by the ISB Bus Service fleet.
  • ISB offers 5 late buses to assist students involved in after-school activities (MS & HS) in their evening commute to home.
  • 100 students from grades 9-12 actively support and promote the safety of all the students on the bus as “bus monitors.”
  • For those who come to ISB with an electric car, there are currently 8 charging points, situated in both the Chateau and ICC parking lots.
  • A bike rental programme was recently launched for ISB employees. In addition, there are now 180 bike parking spots (many of them covered) across the campus.
