ISB Futures Spotlight - Communications at ISB

#12 Communications at ISB

Every day, ISB communicates with parents, employees, alumni, as well as friends and supporters of the school across the world. The school’s Advancement team manages the school’s website and other platforms, sends emails, publishes stories on social media, and handles all emergency communications.

Earlier this year, in support of these actions, the Family Association circulated a survey to the community, aimed at gathering parent feedback on the overall communications experience at ISB. A total of 198 parents completed the survey, with broad representation across all areas of the school. There was also a good mix of responses from new parents and those who have been at ISB for several years.

Key findings included:

  • Almost 75% of parents agree that they receive all the information they need to help them and their children navigate the school year.
  • The majority of Parents agree that communication is clear, complete, accurate, and timely.
  • However, many feel like too much information is shared and struggle to find what’s important or relevant to them.
  • 57% of parents would prefer to use their phone to access ISB communication.

With this feedback in mind, areas of focus and development next school year will include:

  • Transition to a new, whole-school newsletter, beginning August 2021.
  • Re-design of the ISB website and Community Portal by the end of 2021.
  • Re-launch of the ISB app, with increased functionality and access to key resources.

Throughout this process, we look forward to working alongside the Family Association in order to ensure that the experience of communications across the school is clear, timely, and relevant for all parents.

Did you know?

  • More than 8,500 people follow ISB on Facebook. Check-in each day to see the school in action!

  • The ISB app gives direct access to a wide range of resources, including the ISB Directory. Download it here.

  • In the recent ISB Perception Study, it was noted that “parents are also largely happy with the level and quality of communications between parents and the school. The praise has been intensified by COVID-19, with the majority of parents indicating they are impressed with how ISB handled the transition to online learning and communicating through the uncertainties of this time. Many parents feel they are well informed about how their child is doing in class, what is happening in the school and behind the scenes.”
