Child Protection

At ISB we are committed to safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of our students. All students attending ISB are entitled to an environment that is safe and secure. We expect all employees, parents, volunteers and contracted service providers to maintain an attitude of vigilance for possible signs of abuse and/or neglect of students. Each of us has a duty of care to actively seek help for students when abuse or neglect is suspected.

The school has a Code of Conduct, a Child Protection Policy and Child Protection procedures, which are in accordance with the recommendations and requirements of accrediting agencies, of the International Task Force on Child Protection and the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, of which Belgium is a signatory. Training on child protection awareness and procedures occurs on an annual basis.

ISB has established a rigorous vetting process for all employees with regard to child protection which includes a "Certificate of Good Standing" from the Belgian authorities. It is school policy to actively seek confidential references for all new employees.
