Alumni at an International School of Brussels reunion

Our Alumni

ISB welcomes back graduates, former students, past parents and former faculty & staff almost every day of the year, from all corners of the world. Our alumni community is truly global and we aim to stay in touch via communications and events with as many of our alumni as possible. We work closely with active alumni and Class Representatives to support alumni gatherings in many locations in Europe, Asia and North America.

We love connecting with our Alumni! Join us on our new alumni network and stay tuned on all upcoming events, view the latest photos, browse our digital archive and reconnect with lost class mates.

Alumni Campus Visits
Due to Coronavirus ISB is taking precautions and limiting access to campus. Therefore, unfortunately, we cannot welcome back Alumni visitors until further notice. We will communicate once restrictions are lifted.

Take a look at the map below to see how many ISB alumni are in your location.

Alumni Spotlight

Tai Shani ‘93, Turner Prize for Art

We would like to congratulate Tai Shani, Class of 1993, on winning the prestigious Turner Prize for Art.
“In an unprecedented move, all four 2019 Turner prize finalists agreed to share the prize between them, as an indication of solidarity among artists in a dangerously divided world."

Casimir Liberski '06, Jazz Extraordinaire

A young boy of maybe 13 came to my office in the Metairie one day to ask if he could play for me. He had been playing jazz and classical music for some time and, since he’d soon be joining the ISB community, he wanted to have an opportunity to get to know me and to have someone listen to his playing. His weren't the first parents to ask me if I thought their child had talent but they may have been surprised when my jaw simply dropped to the ground when he first started playing.

Barbara Smith, Former Faculty

Barbara Smith, a former ISB Middle School teacher, teaches us a lesson or two on education, in her recently published book on being an educational change agent.

Alisa Kholmovskaya ‘08

As of 2019, I decided to come back to ISB with a fun after-school activity called Design Club, where I teach Design Thinking principles to kids as they create mobile Apps. Every time I step onto the ISB grounds – I feel immediately at home. I truly believe all that I’ve experienced helped me reconnect with this place that is so dear to me.

Alumni Spotlight: YoungHyun Choi '10

After studying Maths at Oxford University, Young went home to South Korea to serve in the military, where he was the interpreter for the Command Sergeant Major of United Nations Command / Combined Forces Command / United States Forces Korea. He's now working in Finance in London & Hong Kong.

Alumni Spotlight: Renée Frankard, Former Faculty

Former faculty Renée Frankard continues to play an active role in promoting Young Adult literature at ISB through the Prix Farniente, the Belgian literary award for 12-16 year olds. Thanks to Renée, many authors in Brussels for the Prix Farniente Celebration Day also come to ISB to meet with our students.

Alumni Spotlight: Alexander De Beir '90 returns to ISB as Board Trustee

The 2018-2019 school year began successfully, and we're thrilled to report that we have an Alumnus on ISB's Board of Trustees. Emma Zigan, our new Chief Development Officer, had a chance to sit down with Alexander De Beir '90, and talk about his memories of ISB, his continued connection to the school, and his reasons for joining the school's Board of Trustees this year.

Where did they go?

Each year, our graduating class transitions into a diverse range of competitive tertiary institutions around the world, confident in the skills and knowledge gained at ISB. We in turn are confident that our students will embody the values of inclusion, internationalism, and integrity in their new learning communities.

Make a gift

Part of what makes ISB such a warm, caring and successful community is that so many people contribute to school life. Financial gifts are one important way that everyone – parents, alumni, faculty, staff and friends around the world – can give back to help the school continue to grow and improve.

Volunteer at school

Every year, hundreds of dedicated volunteers contribute countless hours of service to our students and our school. Without this continuous support and dedication, ISB simply would not be the same. Volunteering is a great way to meet other members of the ISB community and to share your gifts with ISB students.
