Institute Five: International Teacher Certificate
| The ITC is for experienced, exemplary teachers in internationally minded schools. They will be keen to build on their accomplishments, and have a commitment to learner and learning-centred international education. Successful applicants to join the program need to be or become an individual ECIS member before registering for the ITC. |
The ITC is based on these five ECIS Standards:
Education in an international context
Teaching competencies for the international educator
Teaching students for whom English is an additional language
Student transition and mobility in international schools
Reflective practice – continuing professional development
This professional development program provides a balance of online and face-to-face courses, individual research and peer learning, with support from an ECIS-approved mentor. The ITC is assessed by a substantial portfolio of practice-based evidence. University of Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) are the external assessors of the ITC.
The ITC certificate is thus evidence of teachers' commitment to learning-centred teaching, to first-class professional practice in an international context and to continuing professional development. It is an exemplary qualification for exemplary teachers.
