Development at ISB includes the ISB Annual Fund campaign, fundraising events such as ISBNight!, as well as stewardship of grants and major gifts received by the school. The ISB Development Office coordinates all fundraising activities for the school. The Board Development Committee provides strategic guidance.

Unlike schools that are funded by government resources, ISB is a private, not-for-profit, independent school relying primarily on tuition fees. For much of our history, these tuition fees have underwritten the total cost of the ISB experience, including operating and building expenses. But today and in the future, tuition fees cannot continue to do it alone.

Tuition fees enable us to sustain our core programmes. However, in order to make improvements and implement transformative new approaches to teaching and learning, additional support is required. At the same time, ISB must take proactive steps to secure the ISB site, either by purchasing the land or entering into a new, longer-term lease.

The ISB Annual Fund supports both new initiatives today and sustaining the legacy of our school for tomorrow. A future Capital Campaign will enable us to achieve a transformation of the campus over the coming decade.

The ISB Annual Fund is a yearly campaign that generates income for the school through gifts from all members of the ISB community. These gifts support the operating budget of the school as well as reserve funds designated to help secure the ISB site.

Alumni/ae, current and former parents, current and former faculty and staff, corporations, foundations and friends all make gifts to ISB.

The ISB Annual Fund recurs every fiscal year so as you consider the amount of your gift, you should know that we will ask for your support next year too. Please give what is reasonable for you. Every gift counts and brings us closer to our 2012-13 goal of €325,000.

To be included in the 2012-13 ISB Annual Fund campaign, your gift must be received by July 31, 2013, the last day of ISB’s fiscal year.

At the beginning of each school year, the Board of Trustees approves the goals of the Annual Fund as determined by the school management after a broad consultation of various key stakeholders.

Each year the Annual Report provides full details on how the Annual Fund money raised has been used by the school. All gifts to the school are recognized in the Annual Report.

Gifts to the ISB Annual Fund are unrestricted gifts that support the school’s highest priorities, including innovation in teaching and learning, renovating and updating learning spaces, and securing the ISB site.

A restricted gift provides funding for a purpose chosen by the donor in agreement with the school and cannot be used for anything else. Restricted gifts are usually significant amounts well above the amount of an annual fund gift.
