Dear Parents,

With the first day of the new school year fast approaching, I am delighted to be in touch with you again and trust that you enjoyed some relaxing time with family over the vacation.

I am particularly pleased to extend a warm welcome to the many new families that will be joining us this year. It is very satisfying, once again, to see record enrolment numbers as ISB remains the international school of choice for so many families in Brussels.

One of the many strengths of ISB is our long tradition of successful International Baccalaureate (IB) examination results. This year was no exception and many congratulations to our Class of 2010, most of whom are now busy preparing to start their University career.

As we turn to the coming year, those of you returning to the Campus will again notice a number of significant upgrades, many of which were made possible through your generous donations to the Annual Fund. These include painting of the gyms and renovation of the washrooms, complete renovation of Fort Apache, installation of a water supply to the lower field Concession Stand, as well as installation of a major piece of play equipment in the ECC/ES playground.  Many thanks to Renelde Lambert, Director of Facilities and Services, and her team who have worked so hard throughout the summer to ensure that these works were completed on time.

In order to ease your transition back to school, you will be receiving the usual ISB Welcome Package through your letterbox in the next few days (new families who have not yet provided us with their mailing address can collect this package at the New Family Information Day on Sunday 22nd August, or from Reception any day next week). This Package contains a number of documents and information about key dates at the beginning of the school year, including the Welcome Back BBQ for all families on Sunday 29 August, 12noon – 3pm (ECC/ES Playground).

Have you ordered one of the ISB Student Starter Kits?

This year, we offered new families the opportunity to purchase an ISB Student Starter Kit – a custom designed box (ES, MS, and HS only) that contains everything that your child will need for the first few days at school. This service is now open to all families via our online order form.  Re-supplies will be available from the School Shop (situated in the HS Annex) later in the Fall (more details coming soon).




What’s next?
If you are a new family, I look forward to meeting many of you at the information day this coming Sunday. Please then look out for one further email from me early next week, which will outline some important information about the new ‘Kiss and Ride’ drop-off system in the ISB car parks. It is important that all parents read this information if you are intending to come to ISB by car.

In the meantime, if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to be in touch and we will endeavour to ensure that the start of this school year is as smooth and successful as possible.
