Intelligence, energy, commitment to students, a passion for learning and a collaborative approach
These are the qualities we look for in ISB teachers. Our current faculty is made up of 171 teachers from eighteen different countries; roughly two-thirds of whom are women and one-third men. The four largest national groupings represented are: United States of America 29%; Belgium 18%; United Kingdom 18%; Canada 10%. All hold teaching degrees, many at Masters' level.
We are committed to ongoing professional learning and run workshops and training events throughout the year. ISB organises its own professional learning institutes. We also manage our own on-site Masters in Education programme in collaboration with the University of Bath in the UK.
For teachers new to ISB there is a mentoring programme, which ensures that newcomers are absorbed quickly into the culture of the school and soon feel at home. Many teachers spend a considerable part of their careers at ISB, while others stay for just a few years before moving on to other schools in the international network, or returning to their home country. The average length of stay is around nine years.
ISB recruits worldwide, particularly for leadership positions.
